Need some tips on dating when you have kids?

I’m new at this single parent thing, and just recently started dating again. My question is this… when is it appropriate to introduce your children to your person of interest? I always said that I would NEVER introduce my son to the man I was dating until I knew that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. I’ve recently met someone I really like, and I started to really think about it. Let’s say I’m with this guy for a year or so and decide that it’s time for him to meet my son. What if they don’t get along or I find out that he can’t handle my son? Is it better to let them meet in a social setting earlier on, let’s say a barbeque or something, where I could see how they interact with one another without telling my son that he is a person of interest? I hope my question makes sense….

I joined a single parent website and need help!?
